Privacy score

How the address check at /score works, what each of its eight signals means, and what it cannot see.

The privacy score reads the public history of one address and counts what it gives away. It starts at 100 and loses points for each signal it finds. The penalties add up to 100 at most, so every point is accounted for.

Where the data comes from

The check runs in your browser. Your browser asks Blockscout's public API for the address, its latest 200 transactions and its latest 100 ERC-20 transfers. Requests carry no cookies and no referrer. Blockscout sees which address you check. ephemeral does not: the page has no server and keeps no logs.

The eight signals

SignalPenaltyWhat it finds
Public name15An ENS name resolves to the address
Public labels10Explorer tags on the address, such as a linked social account or a named owner
Exchange link12 or 20Funds received from or sent to an address labeled as a centralized exchange; 20 when both
Shared address7, 14 or 202, 5 or 20 different senders paid this address
Balance on display4, 7 or 10ETH balance above $1k, $10k or $100k
Linked wallets6 or 10ETH sent both ways with 1 or 3+ other wallets (not exchanges, not contracts)
Activity clock580% or more of outgoing transactions fall inside one 10-hour window (UTC); needs 15+
Long history5 or 10More than 1 or 3 years between the oldest and newest activity read

A registered stealth meta-address (ERC-6538) is shown as a note and changes nothing.

Tiers: 80 and above is hard to read, 50 to 79 is readable, below 50 is an open book.

What it cannot see

  • Anything beyond the latest 200 transactions. Older history can only add signals.
  • Clusters. The check looks at one address. It does not follow your other wallets the way an analytics firm does, so a real adversary sees more, never less.
  • Off-chain data. IP addresses, exchange records and data brokers are invisible to it.
  • Labels Blockscout does not have. Other explorers and commercial tools label far more addresses.

A high score does not make an address private. Everything on it stays public forever. The score only says how much these eight signals reveal today.

Sharing

The share card and the link preview show the score, the tier and the top leaks. They never show the address.
