Staying private

A short checklist. Each line closes one way that payments to you get linked back.

Stealth addresses give every payment a clean start. These habits keep it clean.

Checklist

  • Share your meta-address or private name, never a stealth address.
  • Never withdraw to the address that registered your keys (H1).
  • Never send funds back to the payer (H2).
  • Move each payment on its own; never sweep several into one wallet (H3).
  • Let the client set fees; never reuse a custom priority fee (H4).
  • Never fund a stealth address with gas from your main wallet (H5).
  • Wait before moving funds, and avoid exact amounts in and out.
  • Use a private RPC or your own node if your IP matters.
  • Keep your viewing key private unless you mean to give read-only access.
  • Never post a stealth address or the transaction that paid it.

Why each line matters

Lines two to six come from our leak study: they are the habits behind the traced payments. The rest are the limits that no client can fix for you; see Stated limits.

The privacy set

Your payment hides among every other stealth payment that could plausibly be yours. That crowd grows as more people use stealth addresses, and it shrinks each time someone leaks. Keeping your own habits clean also protects everyone else in the set.
